In this podcast Dr. Norma Cuellar, Editor in Chief of the Journal of Transcultural Nursing interviews Dr. Linda Phillips, primary author of "Developing and Proposing the Ethno-cultural Gerontological Nursing Model" published in the March 2015 issue. The article describes the development of a new theoretical model for explaining health outcomes and health responses for older adults in unique ethno-cultural groups and to discuss implications and applications of the model to transcultural gerontological nursing practice. Dr. Phillips is Professor Emerita at the UCLA School of Nursing. She is a fellow of the Gerontology Society of America and the American Academy of Nursing. Her team includes Benissa Salem, Kia Jeffers, Haesook Kim, Maria Elena Ruiz, Nancy Salem, and Diana Woods. |

![]() In this podcast Dr. Norma Cuellar, Editor in Chief of the Journal of Transcultural Nursing interviews Dr. Anahid Kulwicki, author of “Intimate Partner Violence, Depression, and Barriers to Service Utilization in Arab American Women” published in the January 2015 issue. The article describes her research study focusing on IPV in Arab American Women in the United States. Dr. Kulwicki is the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Her scholarship has focused on the health of Arab-Americans, with a particular focus on women and adolescents. |

In this podcast Dr. Norma Cuellar, Editor in Chief of the Journal of Transcultural Nursing, and Dr. Lauren Clark, author of “A humanizing gaze for transcultural nursing research will tell the story of health disparities,” published in the April 2014 issue discuss innovative ways to look at health disparities across diverse cultures, without dehumanizing the patient. Dr. Clark is a full professor at the University of Arizona in Tucson and is currently a “Transcultural Scholar,” an honor bestowed by the Transcultural Nursing Society. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
